Good news for ice fisherman, bad news for
boaters. Although the ice was not as thick as the last two years, it looks
like it is going to be a later ice out. The culprit: all the late snow
fall. Snow is a great insulator protecting this ice from it's three worse
enemies: sun, wind and rain. The ice situation looks a lot closer to 2001
(May 2, ice out) than last year (April 20, ice out). Split the difference
for an accurate ice-out prediction. Stay tuned.
